My friend and myself attended one of the workshops few days ago and it was relaxing educational and so much fun. The culture and traditions being shared by a young woman who was taught by her grandmother. The collection and displays in the gallery were beyond beautiful. The staff friendly and respectful. Definately a must see. I will be back.
So very happy this exists! It is wonderfully curated and thoughtful. Put this on your list of things to see - it is smaller than expected, so even a short visit is enough to soak it all in. Lasting impact.
If you're interested about indigenous peoples art and culture then this is one place you should never miss. Bill Reid is a genius and his works speak for itself. Though the gallery is small it accounts and important part of the Haida art and culture.Which video installations it is so interesting to learn about the culture particularly the title culture witches very much connected to their ancestral roots. A must visit if you're interested in art.
Worth the time. Very small. Certainly less than an hour. Provides great perspective to visitors, particularly with respect to indigenous populations.
Great hidden gem downtown. Bill Reid is truly historic figure in the culture of the Pacific Northwest. The museum has some beautiful artifacts and introduces you to Bill's life with videos and text. It's astonishing to see the influence one man has had to show the world the art and history of people that was nearly lost forever. A little hard to find, but well worth the effort.
