Had a robotic coronary bypass followed by a balloon angioplasty middle of September 2018 at the VGH and I can only say thank you very much that the level of care and competence by the surgeons Dr. Cook and Dr. Saw, and the 24-hour medical and the nursing staff and follow-up at the coronary ICU and the well-equipped and furnished recovery centre were excellent and world class. Recovering very well.

Had to come here one night while I was pregnant. I was transferred to BC Women's, however, the short time I spent at VGH, was great, all things considered. Great staff, accommodating and caring. I saw lots of challenging patients in the waiting room and yet all the staff remained professional and kind. Great work!

I called in to check on my cousin who was recently diagnosed with cancer after waiting months in pain for doctors to find out. The woman on the phone tells me he was discharged yesterday, but I had to find out by a family member he passed away yesterday and not discharged. Horrible service when it came to my cousin, and he didnt deserve to go this way. He was a really good person with a daughter, and just started his life. Doctors should have done more.

I recently had a two-week stay post-op at VGH and can't speak highly enough about the angels on 9A. So many names and I can't remember them all: unfailingly patient and kind. Pure Gold. My special thanks go to a UBC student nurse, the lovely Adrianna, who always had time to listen as I chatted on....she will be a great nurse.I also can't say enough about the food....in fact there is only one word: abominable. I realize the difficulties in catering for such a diverse and large number but how can anyone do this in the name of food? Surveys in Britain have shown that the poor quality of hospital food contributes greatly to the time taken to heal and leave the hospital. One suggestion: The two-bed room I was in had a washroom with 'for patients' use only' on the door. However this was written in English and for the last two or three days of my stay, my companion was a lovely Chinese lady who didn't speak much English and her husband even less. He was with her all day for two days and made use of the patient washroom all the time...I am sure this was only because he did not read English. Given the diverse make up of Vancouver's population, would it not be a good idea to also indicate this restriction in Chinese and Punjabi?Grateful thanks to all.

When my girlfriend was taken to the emergency room it was very busy. The doctors and nurses were incredibly attentive regardless, giving her ever thing she needed. I would highly recommend this hospital to anyone the staff are knowledgable quick and most importantly kind.
