great library w/a great aboriginal collection.. unfortunately their selection besides that is pretty sparse.. but they're a relatively new location, so this will change w/time i'm sure.. they also recently added the Bud Osborn recording booths.. I haven't had a chance to use them yet, but i took a tour, & am looking forward to recording vocals there! the staff is also very nice & helpful.
If you have a typical toddler that has their moments, don't go here.Took my little one there today, played, did this, did that, one thing led to another & ended up having a meltdown, as ANY HUMAN TODDLER would. Not even 2minutes after some crying, with me trying to clean a mess, re direct the fussing and calm my child do I hear knocking, the security guard!Asking if everything was "okay".Like what?Repeated herself, and I told her unless you want to come in here to calm & comfort MY child, everything is fine. She wouldn't leave us alone. After then finally leaving, I'd only then spot her AND another librarian walking back & forth STALKING us even way after I calmed MY child, like looking for what??Feeling unwelcomed & not appreciating being spied on for GOD knows what, we gathered our stuff to leave.Stopped to speak to the "supervisor", she was no help, she had no idea on how to address the problem & basically sat wasting time talking to this woman in circles. She said why we were being watched was for " safety" because its a public place & the kids area door is to be left open, although numerous other times I came to find others in the room before, door closed & we had no problems joining & vice versa. So feeling ALOT of racial discrimination from these people, wasn't the first time, & won't be the last. Go-er beware if you have a young child.P.S had a friend there as well that over heard the whole thing, and she said the other staff including the harassing security guard were gossiping & whispering about us while I was talking to the supervisor, mighty fine workplace environment this "open & accepting" library displays. As if.
Accommodating staffs and good security. It's a new library. It's in Strathcona neighbourhood. They have creativity sections, voice recording parts, meeting room, common computers.
The Best Library. Open Early And Lots Of Computers And Books To Choose From.
