Was the only local theater showing Panos Cosmatos' Mandy on the opening night, which was highly appreciated. Also worth noting is the other screenings of seasonal or niche films shown here.
The 70mm was fantastic! The night I went there was an issue with BC Hydro that the theatre operators did not k ow about u til the show was about to start. Everyone who worked at the theatre did their beat to make sure everyone in the theatre was kept informed about the wait. They were all friendly and they did a great job under difficult circumstances.
Its nice to visit a cinema that isnt a huge multiplex, even if you do get the generic cineplex vibe from the lobby. But at least they show an alternative collection of films.
This theatre is super cute! Ive driven past it plenty, but never went in. They were playing a weeb movie (My Hero Academia: Tale of Two Heroes) which was really cool. They have a solid concession, but was sad they didnt have all the food a normal cineplex outtakes has (wanted Poutine). I recommend the Mini Combo. $7.99 gets you a drink, popcorn, and candy in a good portion for one person to have.
This theater would be absolutely PERFECT if they would only turn the sound up. the sound is way too low there. It sounds like it only comes form the screen section so it needs to be turned up. That is the only problem. Like the Rio, they play lots of awesome old classic movies from the 70's and 80's. But seriously, turn up the sound!
