The most wonderful library I could be. lots of things to explore, place of exchange and accessible to all. The staff is super nice! the atmosphere is calm, the architecture is great and welcoming.

A Terrific addition to the city centre.Although the library system dates back about 150 years, and has 22 branches, the new-ish (23 years) centrally located library is the "Jewel in the Crown". It provides many important services as well as multiple special programmes-- of considerable interest to residents and visitors... The first impression, when one approaches it, is the unusual/inspired architecture and, its selection was judged by the residents. The theme reflects the "new and the old"- as does Vancouver. Nearby is Robson street, well known for its varied shoppes, restaurants etc. It is a definite "Must See"-- especially on a "rainy day".I hope that this Review was useful.

The new reno upstairs is finally open and it is beautiful. Spacious, open, bright, and adds conference rooms and dozens of new work spaces for people coming to study, plus a little niche near the new gardens where you can sit and eat. The new upstairs has the feeling of an art gallery, without the smugness.Still missing in action is the map for each floor that shows you where to find the call number of the book you're searching for. They got rid of these maps in 2004 and every inquiry I've made since has been answered with 'oh, we're moving the books around'. Since 2004. There are inexpensive ways to create a poster with that information, so that library patrons wouldn't have to go through every aisle on the floor to find the right section... or wait 10 minutes for library staff to show them where it is. Wonder why management can't figure it out.

Centrally located downtown Vancouver, this library offers numerous floors of resources, tools, services and of course books. The building is beautiful and usually very busy with locals and even tourists. Great place to spend a few hours exploring. Highly recommended.

Libraries are the last pure, uncorrupted entity in society and this one is exceptional. My favourite library in the whole world! Absolutely gorgeous architecture and wonderful atmosphere. Lots of places to study in peace. Friendly, helpful staff.
