People, do not give up on asking your money back when you find out you are charged more than you agree to at the time you make your online reservation. We have just given our money back on the spot by a general staff at the counter. The key to get your money back is perseverance. There was a long line of customers in the lobby and the staff could not afford spending another 15 minutes + to deal with our complaint. She finally retreated to a room and called her manager. Then we were kindly given our money back. Good luck to you all.
CHECK THE ROOF FOR DAMAGE. Make damn sure they note any and all damage to the vehicle before you take it out. Their insurance doesn't cover the roof (!) so any damage is your responsibility. Funny, because they don't actually fix the damage, they just put a sticker on it. I just returned a vehicle with huge damage to the roof. When I took the vehicle out, the guy who inspected it clearly said 'no damage to the roof', and I foolishly trusted him. When I returned it they accused me of causing the damage. The scrapes were down to bare metal and had rust all over them, making it clear it was old damage. The one side had a sticker on it, but it was barely stuck. After a minute of losing my cool and insisting up and down that there's no way in hell that wasn't old damage, the attendant went around and looked at the front of the damage. Sure enough there was a sticker. An infuriating experience, getting accused of something like that. I didn't get any sort of apology, just defensiveness. 'I wasn't accusing you, I was just asking you about it.' It sure reeks of a scam to me. I'm sure at least one other person has paid for those damages but they were never fixed. I will never use this facility again and will happily pay more money to rent with someone I trust.
Zero star. Our U-Box reservation has been cancelled by a lady at the Se Marine Dr warehouse two days prior to our move across the country. There is a saying : ''can't fix stupid''. Well, let me tell you it applies to some folks at this location. Hint No.1 to U-Haul: give some training to your employees. Before they cancel a reservation, they should have the decency to contact the client before having such initiative. Hint No.2 to Uhaul : Fire that employee at the SE Marine Dr warehouse that handle the u-box with the fork lift before a serious incident/accident happen. Never seen someone picking up pallets at full speed. Just ridiculous. As each location of U-Haul is different, I would like to believe that this type of questionable experience just apply to this location.
Rented a storage unit for over a year here, the auto payment messed up and so they charged me extra fees for late payment. Every time I need help I have to stand in a minimum 10 minute line. Called to ask if my spare key was there, was told they don't keep spare keys, which was false. I told her that they definitely do, she then went and looked (I thought) and told me they have mine. I bussed an hour there to find out that they didn't actually have it (they didn't lose it, I had taken it out earlier and forgot to return it, hence why I called asking them to check.) Then was told that I have to hire a locksmith to get my lock cut off. I went to buy a new combination discus lock from them, and was told I couldn't use it because they only allow discus locks, which this was. Worst business I've ever dealt with. Will be going with Shed in the future.
I've used this location 3 times this summer. My recommendation is to be very thorough on the initial walkthrough, they will be on the return. I always take a photo of the kilometers and gas before leaving. Makes it easy to know how much I've driven.
