I live in Kerrisdale and called the Kerrisdale number. I had a leak in the basement and called to ask if they had someone that could come out and look at the leak. The man on the phone asked if i was rich... I laughed and said, no, I am not rich. He then said "well if you don't have lots of money to spend then I can't help you. You're going to have to call around. We are too busy." So rude!

I have amended my rating to reflect the follow up work that has been done to address my original concern.*original post*I can not recommend Hillcrest Plumbing. I had a small job and Hillcrest failed on two occasions to show up to do the job. Thursday - phone call to describe the job, got a sense of how long it would take/cost which was great. A time was set the following week for a plumber to come to my home in the morning. Wednesday - I took the day off work to be thereWednesday noon - Had not heard anything so I called up the dispatch. I was told the job was still on the books and to be patient. Wednesday 3pm - I still hadn't heard anything so again I called dispatch and was told the job hadn't been sent out yet and to be patient. The person on the phone was borderline rude.Wednesday 5:30pm - I received a phone call apologizing but they would not be able to come out.Thursday - rebooked the visit for the following morning. Plans were made to take the day off so I could be present for the visit.Friday 10am - Phone call advising that they would not be able to make it in. At this point, I was no longer willing to work with Hillcrest.Perhaps this job was too small? Either way, the lack of clear and timely communication and the time I lost waiting in vain for their service means that I would not use Hillcrest and would not recommend them. A very frustrating experience.
Hillcrest has been my 'go to reliable' expert for all plumbing and heating. Such helpful staff - even finding me the best gorgeous shower head and most efficient hot water dispenser for the lowest price. My furnace, that another company installed, broke down and I was without heat. I called the company who installed it but no service tech was available to help!So that's when I tried Hillcrest who sent a top expert to help me asap!! That's service! I had previously been accustomed to waiting and waiting for help regardless the day, time or how serious the need! I was getting very frustrated!! Hillcrest has the most professional, knowledgeable, efficient & courteous staff. Hillcrest is simply always there when you need them! I am giving them a PERFECT score because they are so deserving and I am so appreciative! Their goal is a satisfied customer and they work hard for your loyalty. Thank you for being there for me!
I arranged a replacement of hot water tanks for some units in a strata. Hillcrest gave thoughtful telephone advice about the size of tanks we'd need, and as part of their advice they took details of the old tanks we had. I appreciated their carefulness. We worked with one person at Hillcrest, so communication was simple. They accommodated our strata's requirements with no problems at all, including disposal of the old tanks and particular entrance and exit methods for our building. In other words, they were flexible. We had a date within a week; all the tanks in one day, and if that was possible we'd get a price discount. I don't know if this is general policy for Hillcrest, but we were going to make their work easy and quick, and perhaps they understood this. They were clean (no dirt left around) and informative. They were also flexible about payment method. I'd use them again.
Kelly really helped me out when i was in a bind, and the plumber i received a quote from tried to gauge me. He was very reasonably priced, and was able to complete the work in a timely fashion. He is a really good guy, and i trusted him the minute i met him. Which is hard to get with contractors these days. I will definitely be referring him to others for his great work.
