I bought a sofa bed that I was very pleased with and the service in the store was great. What I am delivering the low rating on was with regards to what happened after I purchased. I was told that because the sofa was going to be moved into a storage unit first, that special instructions to wrap the corners in both cardboard as well as an extra layer of the clear plastic to prevent any damage was given. Believing this, I arranged for the movers to come and move the couch, which I would go back for 5 days after to move into my home. Upon arriving at the storage unit, I discovered that the couch had not been wrapped as described and, as a results, the edges of the couch had clearly been damaged (luckily it is at the back, so is not noticeable). When I called the store to alert them politely of the lack of follow through, I was told well, what do you expect me to do about it?. When I mentioned that I was disappointed and wanted to notify them so that another customer would not be disappointed, the lady said that she would get the sales associate that I had dealt with to call me. I never received a call and I certainly didnt receive any form of apology. This was my first and will be my last purchase at this company, since I value integrity and only want to deal with companies that value their customers.
A branch of US chain Williams and Sonoma...... Slinging housewares..... Nice stuff but pretty "sticking to the big chain formula" stuff.... Not exciting....
Shopping at west elm is a nice experience. The front staff is friendly (though sometimes the designers are a bit standoffish) and try hard to be helpful. Some things are unusually expensive but it is because of their fair trade efforts. You have to be careful about the quality of some of the furniture pieces. I like to shop for the decor which is unique and often nature inspired.
This place is aesthetically beautiful. They have some really great deals when they have their sales on
I was made fun of at your store today for buying a decor item for $20. I tried to remain impartial but the lady who said ooh big spender only set me off when her male counterpart at the counter giggled liked a school girl and covered his mouth. The only reason I am writing this is to hope your store can fix its attitude as I know furniture stores can easily succumb to a fleeting market and industry. All the best but i will rather spend my money at another place.
